I have a JD4300 with a 47 back hoe. Last week it blew a hydraulic hose and when the dealer replaced the hose he cut off the nylon sleeve that the hoses run through at the bottom of the boom. He replaced the nylon sleeve by using a couple of small plastic cable ties to hold it on. Seems like a temporary repair at best to me. I would have threaded the new hoses through an uncut sleeve since I'm looking for maximum protection for the hoses. I've had one hydraulic oil shower and I'm not anxious for another. Is this the normal way to repair hoses? Has anyone had a similar experience and how did your dealer handle it?Frank

The sleeve serves two purposes - to protect the hose from abrasion, and to protect the operator from the high pressure oil which can easily penetrate the skin in case of a rupture. ....
